STORYLINE:

The world's largest clean energy corridor, consisting of six mega hydropower stations on China's Yangtze River, reached a single-day power generation of 1.5 billion kilowatt-hours on July 23.

For 35 days in 2024, the corridor recorded daily power generation exceeding 1 billion kilowatt-hours. This has played a crucial role in meeting surging electricity demand this summer.

The 1,800-kilometer clean energy corridor was completed in December 2022.

Its six hydropower plants, Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges Dam, and Gezhouba, have a combined installed capacity of around 71.7 million kilowatts. Electricity is transmitted from the facilities to energy-consuming regions in the east.
