Hero resident rescues dog stranded in typhoon floods
A hero resident waded through floods to save a stranded dog during Typhoon Gaemi in the Philippines.
Footage shows Iqramie Bantuas, 26, reaching for the one-year-old pooch named Dog pulling the canine from the water in Bulacan province on July 24.
Iqramie used a stick to assist Dog and guide it to safety as the water level kept rising in the neighbourhood.
His wife Najerah Domato said: 'During that time, our first floor was also flooded. While we were carrying things to the second floor, I took a moment to look out the window and saw that dog.
'I asked the people passing by to rescue the dog, but they couldn't reach it because there were many nails and pieces of wood, and they were afraid. The dog was there for almost ten minutes, trying to climb onto the roof but couldn't because it was injured and the roof was slippery.
'Then I thought of calling my husband, and I didn't expect him to be the one brave enough to help the dog without any hesitation.'
Typhoon Gaemi killed 22 in the Philippines after lashing through mainland Luzon for almost a week, intensifying monsoon rains. It headed to Taiwan killing three people and injuring more than 200 when it made landfall.
