Heroic 9-hour rescue operation by SDRF saves life amidst landslide in northern India
A courageous rescue operation was carried out by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) after receiving information about a person missing in northern India's Uttarakhand.
The incident took place near Choti Lincholi of Rudraprayag district on July 31.
Visuals showed the team rescued the individual with a lot of difficulty from under the rocks.
Speaking to Newslions Media, SDRF Constable, Uttarakhand, Vinit Vaibhav mentioned the SDRF team, consisting of SI Prem Singh, Head Constable Prem, Constable Digambar, Constable Ramnaresh, Constable Dharmendra Gosai, Home Guard Arun, and Home Guard Ashok Kumar, immediately set out to locate the individual. Upon their arrival, heavy rainfall and landslides created a chaotic situation, causing panic among the people in the area.
Undeterred by the adverse conditions, the SDRF team continued their rescue efforts through the night. At 4:30 AM, the search operation resumed. Approximately two kilometers before Lincholi, the team heard cries for help. They discovered a man, Girish from Chamoli, trapped under large rocks near Tharu Camp, while other individuals were found dead.
After nearly nine hours of arduous and heroic efforts, the SDRF team, with the assistance of the Kedarnath and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, successfully rescued Girish. He was immediately airlifted to a higher medical center for urgent treatment. Additionally, the body of a deceased individual was recovered and handed over to the Lincholi outpost.
This incident highlights the dedication and bravery of the SDRF team, who risked their lives to save others amidst the treacherous conditions of heavy rain and landslides.
