The Australian Life 2024 photography competition exhibition will be on display from Friday 2 August to Sunday 25 August at Customs House Square, near Circular Quay.
Take an intimate journey through contrasting scenes of connection, resilience and play with this year’s Australian Life photography prize finalists.

From heartachingly touching portraits to suspenseful sporting moments, these 28 photos encapsulate Australia’s unique personality. Depicting scenes of escapism, community and grief to snapshots of joyful celebrations and the everyday – discover images that capture a moment of Australian Life.

About Australian Life

Australian Life is one of Australia’s biggest – and most democratic – photography prizes. For more than 20 years, amateur and professional photographers have sent in their epic and intimate images of Australia taken over the last 12 months.

The finalists and major winners taking home prizes worth up to $10,000 are chosen by a panel of professional photographers, artists and curators.

Australian Life is produced by the City of Sydney as part of Art & About Sydney, an ongoing program of temporary art projects in unusual spaces.
