A motorcycle has made a miraculous recovery after being buried under two months of volcanic mud following a mudflow from Mount Marapi in Indonesia.

Footage from Batu Taba, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, captured on Friday, August 2nd, 2024, shows a family and local residents freeing Wati's motorcycle from its muddy prison. The bike was completely submerged in the ash-laden sediment.

"My motorcycle vanished for two months after the Marapi lahar struck on May 11th," Wati explained. "A scrap metal collector found the exhaust pipe while digging behind our house."

After a thorough cleaning, the bike was taken to a repair shop. "It’s repairable, but it will be expensive," Wati added.
