Participants of the 2024 International Conference on Local Knowledge, Practices and Innovations of Indigenous Peoples from the United States, Nepal, Kenya, the Philippines and Thailand studying in Toraja.

Participants and teams took part in a study visit held in Kete' Kesu, North Toraja, South Sulawesi, where they learned the local wisdom of the Toraja traditional community.

Participants and teams come from a number of countries around the world.

In commemoration of the International Day of Indigenous Peoples in the World 2024, the Toraya Indigenous Peoples Alliance together with the United States Embassy held a study visit for participants and teams who will take part in the international conference on local knowledge, practices and innovations of indigenous communities which will be held on August 9.

This activity was attended by participants from the United States, the Philippines, Kenya, Nepal and Thailand. Apart from participants from abroad, 32 indigenous communities in Toraja were also present to discuss with the participants to get to know each other's cultures. .

It is hoped that this activity will introduce the local wisdom of the Toraja traditional community, we can maintain what has been passed down by our ancestors, joining hands to continue preserving the customs that exist in society, especially in Toraja.

On this occasion, representatives of participants from the United States gave souvenirs to Toraja traditional figures, in the form of cloth typical of their country. Apart from that, the dances and customs and local wisdom of the Toraja tribal community were also displayed, which will be material at an international conference held in Jakarta later.
