A couple thought they were having a boy with blue balloons coming out of their gender reveal party box before it was followed by a pink decor that said ‘girl'.

Footage shows the parents-of-four, who were hoping to have another son on the way, delighted when the blue balloons flew out of the cardboard box in Nueva Ecija, Philippines on July 21.

However, the celebration proved premature as the four blue balloons were followed by bold pink letters spelt ‘girl.'

Six-months pregnant mum Perrie was surprised when she saw the reveal twist with her husband Michael.

Their friend Klaine Restua said: 'When I found out that baby number five was another girl, I decided to start with blue balloons to see their reactions if it was a boy. Then, in the end, the real gender, which is a baby girl, would be revealed.

'In the video, it might seem like they weren't happy, but they were just surprised by the trick. However, they feel very blessed regardless of whether it's a boy or a girl. At the end of the video, they were clapping.'

Gender reveals are popular because they add an element of surprise and excitement, allowing expectant parents to celebrate and share the news with family and friends in a memorable way.
