This is the scary moment a toddler was flung in the air while sleeping without a child seat when the van hit a bump on the road.

Dashcam footage shows the two-year-old girl named Blink napping on the seat beside her mum Supansa when they passed over a pothole in Tak province, Thailand on July 30.

The infant was shaken and almost hit her head on the passenger side door as she was thrown in the air, prompting her mother who was also woken up to grab her.

Upon checking the dashcam in the front and rear view of the car, they found there was a road imperfection in their lane.

Supansa said: ‘That's when I realised how important car seats and seat belts are. I immediately ordered a car seat online.'

Fortunately, the little girl and her mum were unhurt in the incident.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

Wearing seatbelts or using child seats has been mandatory in Thailand since 2022. However, road laws are rarely followed or enforced by police.
