Lifeguards catch huge crocodile on beach in the Philippines
Lifeguards caught a huge crocodile spotted swimming on the shore of a tourist beach in the Philippines.
The authorities were called to Boracay beach where the 6ft-long saltwater croc was seen drifting with waves in Aklan province on July 25.
Footage shows the men pulling the reptile to the sand amid strong currents. Some of the locals helped secure the animal into a net while scared beachgoers gathered to watch.
The crocodile was carried from the beach's Station 2 area and taken to the wildlife office facility to be relocated.
Resident Laika Bandiola Maming said: 'We thought it was only a piece of wood drifting in the sea, but we were scared when we realised it was a crocodile.'
Wildlife officers said the crocodile was pushed by strong currents during the typhoon from its habitat into the beach.
Saltwater crocodiles, known locally as 'buwaya', are found across the Philippines in mangroves, estuaries, and rivers. They are known for their size, aggression, and ability to live in both saltwater and freshwater environments.
