This is the moment a car hits a loose manhole cover on an expressway and is catapulted into the air during busy rush hour traffic.

Dashcam footage captured the accident on the expressway under Yifen Bridge, in the city of Taiyuan, in Shanxi, China, on Saturday, July 27.

The car went over a loose manhole cover while it was travelling at regular speed.

The cover came off as the front wheel came into contact with it, sending the back of the automobile flying five metres or more into the air.

The vehicle overturned on its side, but no serious damage was sustained.

As per the reports, one person inside the vehicle suffered a minor fracture, while others escaped unharmed.

The incident occurred as other vehicles continued to pass by, highlighting the potential danger of loose infrastructure on busy roadways.
