SOUNDBITE 1 (English): UGO GATTONI, French illustrator
"I'm Ugo Gattoni, the artist who created these two posters of the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Paris 2024.
I had to have a look first at the cultural website and all the mood I can get before coming. So I learned a lot about the crafts."
This 1,600-year-old silk craft is famous for its colorful and exquisite patterns.
It was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2009.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): UGO GATTONI, French illustrator
"The master will show me how to do it. It is really a great honor. And you can feel as my work is like something about passions and hours and months of drawing. It's the same and even more. So it's really something that is giving a huge value and inestimable to the art and craft."
SOUNDBITE 3 (English): UGO GATTONI, French illustrator
"By visiting the museum this morning, it brings me also more defined ideas. It changed the ideas. It makes me want to draw it a bit differently to add some details.
It's giving me some guideline to indulge in the drawing in a different way. So it's cool to bring this to the artwork. Modern designers using this ancestral technique can open this to the world. I think it's a great idea to work like this."
