SOUNDBITE 1 (English): INGA DORA PETURSDOTTIR, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Iceland
"My last post was in Malawi, so I was there for four years. And before that, I was in Mozambique. So I can definitely say that I have witnessed what China can bring to the Global South in terms of infrastructure and technology. That has been very impressive."
Speaking of cooperation between Iceland and China, the diplomat said the two countries have made steady progress with fruitful results in such areas as geothermal energy.
She believes that there is great potential for bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): INGA DORA PETURSDOTTIR, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Iceland
"What we can see in the last 10 or 12 years is how Iceland and China have been collaborating in bringing Icelandic innovation with the technology from China. And you can see it in geothermal energy that is now generating renewable energy in over 70 cities in China. So I think it's both China bringing something to countries that are lacking the infrastructure to help them to take this leapfrog, but also in collaborating with other countries combining forces. I think there has a lot of potential."
