Russian tourist sparks panic after road accident in Bali
Two Russian tourists caused a commotion in Bali, sparking panic among locals.
Couple Georgii Shabalin and Bezmenova Nadezhda were involved in a road accident with local residents on the Denpasar-Singaraja National Public Road in Bali, Indonesia, on July 31.
Footage shows the man screaming hysterically on the side of the road, while his partner plays a homemade musical instrument.
A nearby policeman attempted to calm him down, but he was reportedly ignored. The man was seen trying to kick someone who was trying to stop him.
Locals then detained both tourists and contacted the police.
Iptu Gusti Made Besa, head of the Public Relations Section of Tabanan Police, explained that before the commotion, the Toyota Raize driven by the foreigners was travelling from the south towards Denpasar and then heading north towards Singaraja.
He said: 'Arriving at the TKP, at such a speed, he was not careful and could not control his vehicle. He veered right past the road markings and collided with a Toyota Calya vehicle coming from the north towards Singaraja.'
Georgii reportedly exited the car screaming and hit another vehicle coming from the north towards Singaraja.
Police officers arrived, apprehended them, and took them to the Baturiti Police Headquarters.
An examination of their luggage revealed several drugs, including three bottles of 100 mg/ml ketamine, half a pack of rolling paper, 13 bottles, toy money in Russian dollars, and 15 pieces of Bitcoin.
Nadezhda explained that they had been staying at Chakra Tavern Bedugul to shoot for YouTube videos from July 27 to 31.
She said: 'We had not slept or eaten for three days, relying on drugs, and had been engaged in activities to absorb natural energy.'
When police observed that Shabalin was dazed and vomiting blood, he was taken to Baturiti 1 Health Center and later referred to Semara Ratih Luwus Baturiti Hospital.
Medical officers diagnosed a blood vessel issue in Georgii's lungs resulting from the collision and identified problems in his stomach related to drug or alcohol consumption.
