Boardmaster Music and Surfing Festival, gets underway, spectators arrive by car, bus and train, Newquay, Cornwall, UK
Boardmasters Music And Surfing Festival is underway on the 7th of August 2024.
The best UK and International surfers go head-to-head in the country’s biggest surf competition.
the LQS competition is reserved for Pro athletes only. A special secure competitor enclosure is provided for the hundreds of pro surfing athletes from around the world. The Seaside town of Newquay sees traffic logjams as the spectators arrive by car, coach, and train. A festival village with Surf-themed merchandise is thronged with visitors to the festival.
The main Boardmasters Music event takes place at Watergate Bay, three miles from Fistral Beach the chosen Surfing contest venue. This year's event is the biggest yet with the numbers increased from 53,000 to 58,000 ticket buyers. The combined surf and music event will bring an estimated 175,000 extra people to Cornwall this year. Special trains are being laid on to bring fans to the town.
