Homes and power lines were seen shaking in Japan today as an earthquake triggered a tsunami warning.

Footage taken by the concerned resident shows the tremors in Miyazaki on the island of Kyushu.

He said: 'First time in my life I've felt shaking like this. Normally I barely feel it when I'm outside or in a car, but it shook to the point that even when I'm standing, there was a fluttering feeling. There was a tsunami warning, too.'

A tsunami was expected to hit the country's southern region within 30 minutes of the 7.1 magnitude quake.

Officials have urged people in the region to immediately move to higher ground.
