The damp conditions have sent many to the comparative warmth of Newquay town. Local supermarkets are selling out of socks, umbrellas, and towels.

the LQS competition is reserved for Pro athletes only. A special secure competitor enclosure is provided for the hundreds of pro surfing athletes from across the globe. The Seaside town of Newquay sees traffic logjams and one local on social media claimed it took him 3 hours to travel three miles into the town. Another family said they allowed three hours to get to Newquay airport from Truro 12 miles distant, and still missed their plane.
The main Boardmasters Music event is at Watergate Bay, three miles from Fistral beach the chosen Surfing contest venue. The event is the biggest yet with the numbers increased from 53,000 to 58,000 ticket buyers. The combined surf and music event will bring an estimated 175,000 extra people to Cornwall this year. Extra police, Transport staff, and security chaperone the crowds.
