United States - August 06, 2024

In a dramatic rescue operation following the aftermath of Hurricane Debby, officials and a courageous bystander came to the aid of a woman trapped in rising floodwaters in Parrish. The incident unfolded during the August 6th afternoon's damage assessments, when officials spotted a vehicle navigating through increasingly inundated Golf Course Road near Twin Rivers.

Video footage of the rescue shows the SUV losing control and plunging into Gamble Creek, prompting immediate action from rescue teams. "It's swift water, man," one official can be heard cautioning as efforts to reach the stranded vehicle intensify.

According to Manatee County officials, Tuesday saw a staggering 210 people rescued in over 55 water rescue missions across the area due to extensive flooding triggered by Hurricane Debby. The storm's impact was underscored by the unprecedented release of water into Lake Manatee, peaking at 13,000 cubic feet per second, with authorities expelling nearly 13,800 cubic feet per second to manage the deluge.

Meanwhile, in Sarasota, residual flooding from the weekend storm continues to render roads impassable, leaving some residents unable to access their vehicles amid rising water levels.
