Citizens shop for food in Yichang, Hubei province, China, Aug 9, 2024. The National Bureau of Statistics announced that in July 2024, the national consumer price index rose 0.5% year on year. Among food products, the price of animal meat rose by 4.9%, affecting the CPI increase of about 0.14 percentage points, among which the price of pork rose by 20.4%, affecting the CPI increase of about 0.24 percentage points; Fresh vegetable prices rose 3.3%, affecting the CPI by about 0.07 percentage points.
