An electrical transformer explosion sparked a fire at night in Bangkok, Thailand.

Footage shows burning electrical cables sending a shower of sparks onto the road in Soi Sukhumvit 49 road on August 8 evening.

Firefighters said the fire was extinguished within 20 minutes after receiving the report.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said the short circuit ripped through electric and communication lines, spreading through old cables that had not been removed.

He added internet connection in the area will be disrupted while the cables were being replaced.
