STORYLINE:
Qixi Festival, also known Chinese Valentine's Day, falls on August 10 this year.
The festival, originating from a 2,000-year-old legend of two lovers, falls on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month on the Chinese calendar.
In China's Xinyu, many believe the Fairy Lake was the setting of the Qixi legend, the tale of a love story between a cowherd and a weaver girl.
STANDUP (English): LIU JIAMIN, Xinhua correspondent
"According to the legend, the weaver girl was a fairy who weaved rosy clouds in the sky. She met and fell in love with a cowherd, when she played around the Fairy Lake.
However, the Queen Mother strongly objected to the couple's union and forcibly separated them by the Milky Way.
They can only meet each other once a year on magpie bridge. Nowadays, Qixi Festival is still a romantic traditional festival in China. The legend of the cowherd and the weaver girl, which symbolizes faithful love, has been passed down in folklore for a long time."
