This is the moment a hero lifeguard leapt onto a capsized raft to save distressed tourists.

Footage shows the fearless rescuer jumping into the foamy white water when a rider was thrown off a raft in a river in Guizhou, China, on July 13.

Onlooker Li said: 'It was a sunny day during a river rafting trip on Gaogu River in Guizhou. The boat of a friend who couldn't swim capsized halfway through, causing our group to split up.

'While waiting for them in a turbulent spot, a wave suddenly overturned our boat. I lost my balance and fell into the rapids, unable to regain control.

'I suffered numerous injuries to my arms, thighs, waist, and legs. Fortunately, I was eventually rescued by a lifeguard and brought safely ashore.

'The lifeguard rescued my friends afterwards.'
