Chinese company carves out an edge in laser cutting

A Chinese company is finding success after creating a 3D-5 axis laser cutting machine for the auto industry.
Huagong Technology from central China's Hubei Province first debuted the device in 2022.
Compared to similar machines made by international manufacturers, Huagong representatives say their machine shaves seconds off tasks like cutting a car's b-pillar.
The company's CEO says it's one of many attributes that makes their 3D 5-axis cutting machine a success.

"A key bottleneck facing new energy vehicles is that they must be lightened because they are electric. To reduce weight, high-strength steel plates must be used. High-strength steel plates cannot be processed by traditional stamping presses. Later, we launched a project. Only 3D 5-axis laser cutting machine can meet customers' requirements."

The company's CEO added that Huagong Tech currently has a 70 percent market share for laser equipment in China.
