Explosion on Yang Ming marine ship at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, China
On August 9, 2024, an explosion occurred on a cargo ship operated by Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, China. The blast, originating from containers in the bow of the vessel, involved materials susceptible to explosions, such as lithium batteries and parabens. The shock wave from the explosion was felt up to a kilometer away. Although there were no injuries, the force of the blast caused significant damage to nearby premises.
