Girl, 11, and woman, 34, hospitalised following stabbing in London's Leicester Square
In a disturbing incident that shook London's bustling Leicester Square, an 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman were stabbed on Monday, August 12, 2024. The attack occurred in broad daylight at approximately 11:36 AM in this popular tourist destination, prompting a swift response from emergency services. Both victims were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service personnel before being rushed to a major trauma centre. The Metropolitan Police have arrested a male suspect, who is currently in custody. Authorities believe there are no other suspects at large. The incident has led to the cordoning off of a section of the square, particularly around the TWG Tea shop, as investigations continue. This shocking act of violence has cast a shadow over one of London's most visited areas, known for its shops, theatres, and restaurants.
