Shop erupts in massive flames and mushroom cloud rises after explosions in China
A huge ball of fire burst out of a shop amidst a series of explosive sounds, followed by a towering mushroom cloud in eastern China.
The dramatic video was filmed in Ma'an City, Anhui Province, on 11 August.
Witnesses described how the fire began with a series of loud explosions, causing the flames to rapidly spread and light up the night sky. Thick smoke billowed into the air, forming a distinctive mushroom cloud, which was captured by residents and passers-by.
The local fire department responded swiftly, dispatching multiple fire engines and rescue teams to the scene. The Emergency Management Bureau and other relevant departments also activated their emergency plans and coordinated efforts for a rapid response.
Thanks to the firefighters' efforts, the blaze was eventually brought under control, though the shop was severely damaged. The extent of property loss is still being assessed.
Preliminary reports suggest that flammable and explosive materials stored in the shop may have ignited and exploded, causing the rapid spread of the fire.
Local authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire to uncover the truth and implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
