Car erupts in flames on Chinese highway, creating 100-metre fire trail
A car erupted in flames on a highway in southern China, creating a 100-metre fire trail.
A terrifying video filmed on the Chengdu-Mianyang Expressway in Sichuan Province on August 11, shows a red car suddenly bursting into flames while speeding down the road. The fire quickly spread, creating a fiery trail stretching hundreds of metres.
Witnesses described how the car was driving normally when thick smoke began billowing from beneath the vehicle. Within seconds, flames engulfed the car, reaching several metres high and illuminating the entire stretch of road.
The intense heat radiated from the inferno, forcing nearby vehicles to take emergency evasive actions, with some drivers swerving to safety and others stopping to call for help.
Local fire services responded swiftly, dispatching multiple fire engines to the scene. Firefighters worked urgently to contain the blaze, and after a tense battle, the fire was brought under control and extinguished.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the car was left a charred wreck.
Initial investigations suggest that an electrical system failure, fuel line issues, or improper use of the vehicle may have caused the fire. The exact cause is still under investigation.
