Terrible and severe floods submerged hundreds of houses in Indonesia, the flood height reached 2.5 meters up to an adult's neck.

Floods hit Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku province, Indonesia, on 13 August 2024.

due to rainfall which has continued to increase since Monday night, causing large and severe flooding on Tuesday 13 August 2024.

It was recorded that two villages, namely Lukolamo Village and Waikob Trans Kobe Village in Weda Tengah District, were submerged in floodwater as high as one to two and a half meters (2.5 meters).

Hundreds of houses were flooded and residents began to flee to safe places.

Flooding was caused by high intensity rain which caused the Kobe River to overflow.

TNI-Polri personnel were deployed to evacuate victims and help sick people to a safe place.

Central Halmahera police chief, assistant police commissioner, AKBP. Aditya Kurniawan said, to speed up disaster management, all levels of the police are implementing disaster response alert to respond quickly to flood management.

Currently, joint TNI-Polri personnel are still on standby and providing assistance to residents affected by the flood and assisting vehicles passing along the road.

"We urge the public to remain alert to the potential for flooding, especially when heavy rain falls at any time, to immediately seek safer shelter and for vehicles to pay more attention to safety," said AKBP. Aditya Kurniawan.

As of tonight, the flood has not shown any signs of receding.
