An escaped pet goat was discovered chilling in an apartment room, taking rescuers to a chase around the building.

The wantaway farm animal entered the hallway unnoticed and climbed up the stairs before entering one of the units on the third floor in Chiang Rai, Thailand on August 11.

It invaded the bedroom and stood on the soft mattress where firefighters found it behaving aggressively.

Footage shows the goat being calmed by the volunteers who were called to the scene by residents.

It would dart away when the men would come near, causing them to run after it around the different parts of the building.

Resident Aphisit, 28, said: ‘I was not home when it entered. A neighbour only told me and called the rescue team.'

The volunteers cornered the goat in a bathroom but evaded them until they reached the fire exit.

At least three volunteers helped secure the animal and carry it downstairs.

Rescuers were later contacted by the owner, who came to their office to retrieve it.
