A large python hiding in the ceiling of a family's garage was caught.

The 10ft reptile was spotted slithering behind silver heat insulation foam by a resident who called the firefighters for help in Bohol province, the Philippines on August 5.

Footage shows the snake being searched overhead by volunteers from the Bureau of Fire Protection Tagbilaran.

They used catching rods with tongs at the end which was used to pinch the animal out while the others uncovered the foam on the ceiling.

An officer said: ‘Upon arrival at the area, the rescue operation was led by SFO3 Medwin Marcelino Alfarero, station commander, immediately secured the area and captured the snake safely.'

The python was turned over to the wildlife facility in the province for rehabilitation and release.
