A festive atmosphere filled the Suliki Class III Penitentiary as inmates competed in various traditional games to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

One of the highlights was the challenging tug-of-war game. Three participants in each team had to wrap a cloth around their waists and pull each other with the aim of reaching a bottle placed on a chair. This game not only tested physical strength but also required strategy and concentration.

In addition to tug-of-war, other exciting competitions such as sack races, laughing contests, and takraw added to the fun.

The Head of Suliki Class III Penitentiary, Kamesworo, expressed that this event aimed to instill the spirit of sportsmanship, togetherness, and provide entertainment for the inmates.

"This event is also a form of appreciation for the active participation of the inmates in the rehabilitation program," Kamesworo added.

The two-day competition was enthusiastically welcomed by all inmates. The winners received attractive prizes prepared by the Regent of Limapuluh Kota.

Footage filmed at the Suliki Class III Penitentiary, Limapuluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra Province, on the first day of the competition on today (August 14, 2024).
