Central African Republic: Chinese-built air traffic control tower completed in Central African Republic
Bangui, Central African Republic - August 12, 2024
The Chinese-built air traffic control tower at the M'Poko International Airport in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, was completed on Monday, with President Faustin-Archange Touadera saying the project will contribute to expanding international air routes and promoting flight safety of the country.
A delivery ceremony of the control tower was held at the airport on the same day.
As the major air hub of the country, the M'Poko International Airport now can no longer meet the needs of air traffic due to its old facilities.
The new ten-storied air traffic control tower built by a Chinese company stands 35.33 meters high, in which the usable area has been significantly expanded and many security control facilities have been added.
After the delivery of the tower, the Chinese side will help the country renovate and upgrade the terminal, the fire center and the runway of the airport without affecting the normal operation.
