Australia: Arsonists Set Barber Shop Ablaze, Accidentally Ignite Themselves
Gungahlin, Australia - July 06, 2024
ACT Policing has unveiled CCTV footage capturing a targeted arson attack at the Gold Blade barber shop on Hibberson Street in Gungahlin, occurring late on Saturday, July 6, 2024.
The video reveals two individuals arriving at the scene around 11:40 pm, each on bicycles. One person is seen wielding a hammer to smash the glass front door of the barber shop, while the other enters through the broken entrance carrying a red jerry can filled with accelerant. The accelerant is then spread across the premises before being ignited, inadvertently setting one of the perpetrators ablaze.
In a frantic attempt to extinguish the flames, the second person rushes to aid their accomplice before both flee on their bicycles toward Hinder Street.
ACT Policing is urging anyone with information regarding the identity of the offenders or details pertaining to the incident to come forward. Witnesses are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or through the Crime Stoppers ACT website, quoting reference number 7792682. Information can be provided anonymously.
