Edmond, United States - May 27, 2024

The Edmond Police Department has launched an investigation into a disturbing case of child neglect after neighbors alerted authorities to the sound of crying children left unattended in a local residence.

Body camera footage released by police depicts the moment officers entered the home and discovered two toddlers alone. The children, visibly distressed, were taken to the police station where they were provided with care while officers initiated efforts to locate their mother.

According to Emily Ward of the Edmond Police Department, concerned neighbors played a crucial role in alerting law enforcement. "We had some very diligent neighbors who paid attention, who heard the babies crying inside and knew the mother wasn't there," Ward stated.

Upon locating the mother, officers learned that she had left the children unsupervised due to a lack of childcare options while she went to work. This decision has led to serious legal repercussions for the mother, who now faces two counts of child abuse and neglect.
