A tyre falling off a truck mid-journey hurtled into the opposite lane and smashed into a parked car in southern China.

The dramatic video was filmed in Yunfu City, Guangdong Province, on 11 August.

The tyre suddenly fell off the truck with alarming speed and bounced across the median into oncoming traffic. The chaotic scene saw drivers on the opposite side frantically swerving to avoid the rogue tyre, with one driver narrowly escaping disaster by sharply veering to the right.

However, the driver of a black car parked on the roadside was not so lucky. The tyre struck the stationary vehicle with significant force, causing extensive damage, particularly to the rear window and surrounding areas.

Eyewitnesses, including nearby shopkeepers, rushed to the scene after hearing the crash. They were shocked by the unexpected and violent nature of the accident, expressing deep concern and sympathy for the owner of the damaged car.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident, with early reports suggesting that poor vehicle maintenance or ageing tyres could be to blame for the wheel's sudden detachment.
