Ukrainian MiG-29 pilot captain Alexander Migulya shot down in Sumy Oblast
On August 12, 2024, a Ukrainian MiG-29 piloted by Captain Alexander Migulya of the 40th Brigade of Tank Army was shot down near the village of Loknya-Basovka in Sumy Oblast, Ukraine. The 27-year-old pilot was performing a combat mission at the time, though details of the mission were not specified. Migulya, known as the "ghost of Kyiv" and commander of an aviation unit within the 40th tactical aviation brigade, was reportedly engaged in dropping French AASM-250 Hammer bombs when his plane was destroyed. The Russian Defense Ministry last reported the destruction of Ukrainian MiG-29s on August 8.
