A new eruption on August 15 illuminated the night sky as lava violently spewed out of Mount Etna, Italy.

This marks the sixth eruption since volcanic activity resumed towards the end of June.

This eruption produced an ash cloud that reached approximately 10 kilometres above sea level, spreading towards the south-southwest and east-southeast.

The activity slowly weakened, with the eruption ending around 3:30 am and ash fallout was also observed in the city of Catania.
