A reveller dodged an out-of-control pickup truck hurtling towards him and his girlfriend.

The couple were walking outside a bar after saying goodbye to their friends when the vehicle came crashing towards them in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand on August 8.

CCTV footage shows boyfriend Kantawee Preecha guiding his partner to cross the street when there was a revving sound and the headlight of the car flashed onto them.

Kantawee ran to his left to evade the oncoming truck while the girl went the other way. No one was hit by the car among them which crashed onto the pavement.

Bar manager Meaw Jirayu said: ‘They narrowly escaped. It was so scary.'

Boyfriend Kantawee Preecha said: ‘It was good that I was not too drunk and still mindful that time.'

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
