A customer allegedly found worms squirming inside a pastry from a dessert shop in India.

Footage shows the savoury bread stuffed with beans and other ingredients being poked by a wooden spoon to show the parasites squirming inside in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on August 10.

The customer, Himanshu Tripathi, returned the food to the counter of the Radhey Lal shop, which had been serving customers since 1926.

A store attendant confronted the customer, who apologised and said: ‘This is our mistake, sir. We accept it. This happened for the first time. We throw away expired or old food.'

However, the incident sparked outrage and urged local authorities to probe hygiene standards in the store.
