Athlete brings French Olympic blanket back from Paris and finds it was made in China
A Chinese athlete was amused after returning home with six medals and an Olympic blanket from Paris, only to discover that the duvet was made in her home province in China.
Footage of Zhang Yufei returning home shows her luggage containing the blanket and her six medal cases.
The video shows the blanket, adorned with the year 2024 and the Paris Olympic logo, being inspected before some of the trophies are shown.
One of the trophy boxes is opened, revealing a women's 100-metre swimming medal and an inscription in French noting that the pin beneath can be worn as a substitute for the medal.
Local media reported that the company that produced the blankets was a textile company in the city of Wuxi, also in Jiangsu province.
Factory owner Mr Sun said: 'The Paris Olympics blanket was produced under strict quality control measures, involving careful selection of materials and rigorous testing to meet the high standards required for Olympic products.'
Zhang Yufei, 26, won a silver medal in the mixed medley relay and five bronze medals, for the 50m free, the 100m fly, the 200m fly, the 4x100m free relay, and the 4x100m medley relay.
Chinese media reported that more than 80 per cent of the goods and equipment for the Paris Olympics were produced in China.
