Holidaymakers spotted sprinting for sun loungers at hotel in Spain
A pack of holidaymakers were spotted sprinting for sun loungers at a hotel in Spain.
Mum-of-twins Sarah Watson, 28, was in "disbelief" when she saw the herd of people queuing up at the doors of the Villa Romana hotel in Salou, Spain, at 7.55am."
She said the holidaymakers - who were a mix of British, German and Spanish people - would run out when the doors opened to grab the best sunbeds.
She even saw a man collapse one morning in the "chaos" and said his wife stepped over him to secure a lounger before coming back to check on him."
Sarah, a stay-at-home-mum, from Edinburgh, Scotland, said: "It was manic"
"It's really mental."
"It's pretty busy and overcrowded."
Sarah arrived at the hotel at 10am on July 31, 2024 and said it was already "heaving" and all the sunbeds were gone."
They were told by other British tourists staying at the hotel that you had to be in the foyer at 8am to get a sunbed.
Sarah said: "They said you come down at 8am and the doors are opened and everyone went running out."
"I thought surely not? They said it was a like a scene out of Jurassic Park."
"I thought I have to see this for myself."
Sarah's sister went down the next day to secure loungers and watched as people sprinted out while she walked calmly behind.
Sarah said: "She walked behind in disbelief."
"She managed to get us a bed."
"She had put her towels down and"
a German man chucked towels on top.
"She's not very confrontational so she walked away."
When it was Sarah's turn to come down to get the beds she saw a man collapse.
She said: "He collapsed and his wife just stepped over him and said 'I'm going to get the sunbeds'."
"Later he was at the pool in crutches and a bandage."
"I can't believe his wife just left him."
Sarah said the hotel do try and help by putting notes on the sunbeds at 9am to say if no one is on them by 10am they will remove the towels and put them behind reception to collect.
She said: "It was more Germans and loads of Spanish. All the Brits were all gobsmacked by it."
"I have always heard about it happening but never seen it myself."
Sarah filmed the funny video of the sunbed warriors on her last day.
