STORYLINE:
A mandatory evacuation has been ordered for all residents of the Glushkovsky district in western Russia's Kursk region, Acting Governor Alexei Smirnov announced on his official Telegram channel Wednesday.
The Glushkovsky district, which borders Ukraine, comprises two towns and 11 villages.
This comes after an earlier announcement of a mandatory evacuation in the settlement of Glushkovo within the district.
Russia's Belgorod region has been declared a federal-level state of emergency, Russian Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov said on Thursday.

On Thursday, Commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky said that Ukraine has taken control of 82 settlements in the Kursk region.
Since the beginning of their operation in the Kursk region, Ukrainian troops have advanced 35 km along the Russian army's defense, and controlled over 1,150 sq km of territory, Syrsky said on his official Telegram channel.
Since the beginning of Thursday, Ukrainian troops have advanced between 500 meters and 1.5 km further into the Kursk region, he said.
