When Michael Hodges dropped his daughter, Kayla, off at college three hours away, he wasn't prepared for the emotional toll it would take. Despite joking earlier that his wife, Tiffany, would be the one to have a meltdown, it was Michael who struggled to say goodbye. As the moment to leave drew near, Michael was overcome with emotion, wanting nothing more than for his baby girl to come back home.

The two shared their special "Color Purple" handshake, a tradition during goodbyes, making the moment even more poignant. The ride home was silent, as Michael grappled with the reality of being separated from Kayla for the first time.

Dad (Micheal Hodges) is dropping his baby girl (Kayla) off to college which is 3 hours away. As it was time to leave dad wasn't taking it too well. He was having a total melt down. And I (Mom-Tiffany) couldn't help but laugh because pior to dropping her off, her and her dad was having a conversation about mom (me) being the one to have a melt down. He wanted his baby girl to come back. Kayla and her dad has this little color purple hand shake that they do when having to leave each one another. We knew that this day was coming however he's not use to being away from his daughter a long period of time especially being hours away from home. The ride home was silent.
