Decades-old brick bridge suddenly collapses
This is the dramatic moment a decades-old bridge collapsed in China in front of shocked locals.
Footage shows the Shui'an Longting Bridge in Sanshui County, Guizhou Province, crumbling on Thursday, August 8.
The bridge, built in the 1960s from bricks without steel reinforcement, was a key passage for vehicles and pedestrians.
Residents said cracks began to appear on August 7, and debris occasionally fell from the structure.
In response, traffic control measures were implemented to prevent accidents. Despite these precautions, the bridge collapsed the following day, as witnessed by onlookers.
There has been a general trend of bridge collapses in China this year. However, this incident is not attributable to natural calamities but rather to the age and lack of modern construction materials used in the bridge.
