Los Angeles, United States - August 17, 2024

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the 1800 block of West 11th Street for a reported structure fire around 2:16 a.m. Saturday morning.

Upon arrival, LAFD crews observed heavy fire coming from the second floor of a two-story Craftsman-style home with at least one other building exposed to flames. Two additional task forces were requested, reported Margaret Stewart, spokesperson for the LAFD.

Firefighters battled the flames in defensive mode until shortly after 2:30 a.m. when knockdown was achieved by 30 firefighters at the scene, according to Stewart. No injuries were reported.

The quick actions of LAFD crews ensured the fire did not spread to the exposed building.

Crews remained at the scene conducting salvage operations on the first floor to protect belongings from water damage while overhaul continued on the second floor, stated Stewart in the final update of the incident.

There were no further details.
