A mother and her toddler crossed were seen on CCTV crossing tracks as a train approached in Prestayn, Wales.

Footage shows the little boy yards away from his mum who was pushing a buggy while they walked across the railway line at Sandy Lane level crossing on August 1.

The family safely reached the other side with only seconds to spare before the train arrived.

Bethan Lloyd, Network Rail's route level crossing manager for North Wales, said: 'This shocking footage underlines the importance of taking care and staying alert when using a crossing.

'We urge all users to adhere to safety instructions, check both directions for approaching trains, and never attempt to cross if a train is approaching.'

The Sandy Lane level crossing has reported 19 misuse incidents in the past two years, including four categorized as near misses.

Signs are displayed on both approaches, instructing users to stop, look, and listen for oncoming trains, as trains can reach up to 75mph at the location.
