Police raid house 'used as illegal online gambling office' in Thailand
Police raided homes suspected of being illegal online gambling offices in Thailand.
A team led by Police Colonel Arnanchak Kanoknoppawat, superintendent of the Bandu Police Station, swept into the two-storey townhouse said to be the base of an online casino website in Chiang Rai province on August 16.
Officers arrested 10 people, including the suspected leader, Pitpisut, 29.
They also seized 923 SIM cards, 11 computers, 10 brand-name watches, a Toyota sedan, a Ford Raptor, a BMW 530e, and five motorcycles.
Police Colonel Arnanchak said: 'This arrest was a result of police officers inspecting the area to crack down on online gambling. We received a tip that there was an online gambling gang that had rented a townhouse in the Ban Du Muang Mai community to use as an office.'
The leader, Pitpisut, was reportedly in charge of delegating tasks and managing three gambling websites.
The individuals were taken to the Ban Du Police Station for questioning, and their assets, believed to have been acquired illegally, were seized as evidence.
