An underground pipeline explosion in northern China sent manhole covers flying and destroyed roads.

Terrifying dashcam footage filmed in Anshan City in Liaoning Province on August 17, shows an underground pipeline explosion launching multiple manhole covers several metres high, leaving gaping craters in the road. Sections of the street buckled and cracked, resulting in a scene of utter devastation.

Emergency services swiftly responded to the incident, with local authorities arriving at the scene to assess the situation and begin repairs.

The Tiexi District Emergency Management Bureau issued a statement confirming that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion. Anshan China Resources Gas Company also released a notice about pressure reduction in the affected pipeline, initiating urgent repairs. The company anticipates that normal gas supply will resume by 7:00 p.m.

While the exact cause of the explosion remains unknown, experts suggest that the intense heat of the day may have triggered a violent reaction involving methane gas in the sewer system. However, this theory has not yet been confirmed, and some netizens have speculated whether human factors could have contributed to the sudden blast.

The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover the truth behind this alarming incident.
