A pedestrian narrowly dodged an out-of-control car after a distracted driver crashed it into the roadside in eastern China.

CCTV footage filmed in Jiangyin City in Jiangsu Province on August 16, shows a vehicle travelling along a road suddenly drifting away from its intended path and heading straight for the pavement. A quick-thinking pedestrian managed to avoid the vehicle just in time, preventing what could have been a tragic accident.

The collision with a fire hydrant caused a substantial water spout but fortunately did not result in any injuries.

Local traffic police arrived promptly at the scene and conducted an initial investigation. They determined that the crash was caused by the driver’s distraction, who was deemed fully responsible for the incident.

Thanks to the pedestrian’s swift reactions, she narrowly escaped injury.
