Police are hunting for a suspected kidnapper seen on CCTV allegedly carrying a girl away from her home before attacking her in India.

Footage shows the unknown man with the three-year-old infant on Sunday in Rajasthan state.

The incident is said to have occurred while the girl was sleeping outside a temple with her parents.

She was found later at around 6:30 am by a woman setting up her stall. The girl is said to have had bite marks on her lips and back, along with bruises.

The police arrived and took the toddler for a medical examination, which reportedly confirmed she had been sexually assaulted. A forensic team was also called to investigate the scene.

Anil Kumar, Police Assistant Commissioner, reported that CCTV footage showed the man with the child around 2 am.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar Yadav said that the girl's family, originally from Madhya Pradesh, live in a Jodhpur slum. The girl's mother has mental health issues, and her father works as a ragpicker. She also has a five-year-old brother.

Authorities are actively investigating to ensure justice for the young victim.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot strongly condemned the heinous crime: 'It is deeply disturbing that a three-year-old girl was raped in Jodhpur.

'The current state of law and order in Jodhpur has significantly deteriorated, with a rise in incidents such as shootings in broad daylight, robberies, murders, and rapes.

'I have continuously urged Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to take immediate action to address the escalating crime rates in the state.'

The public in Rajasthan is outraged and increasingly fearful due to such incidents.
