Resident arrested over hidden cameras recording neighbours in Spain
Footage shows the Guardia Civil seizing hidden cameras allegedly installed by a resident to spy on his neighbours in Spain.
Officers arrested the homeowner on August 12 for reportedly secretly installing cameras in houses in Formentera del Segura, Alicante.
The arrest came after a resident complained they had discovered a recording device attached to their bedroom window grille, noticing suspicious activity late at night.
Local authorities initially alerted the Guardia Civil after receiving the device from the concerned resident.
The camera was strategically placed to avoid detection, mainly targeting the bedrooms of elderly residents in the neighbourhood.
Investigators found footage of several home interiors on the device, including a video showing the suspect installing the camera.
With help from the community and surveillance footage, the suspect was identified and detained.
A search of the suspect's home revealed more recording equipment, six grams of cocaine, 30 grams of marijuana, and other materials indicating drug distribution.
The individual now faces charges related to privacy violations and drug trafficking.
